Throughout the course of their struggle and fight for civil and human equal rights, the Native American community encountered their fair share of success, as well as some roadblocks along the way that instead of helping and inspiring them to succeed, often times lead to them suffering more loss then good. This lead to them failing at that one specific idea they thought would help them get closer to there goal of civil and human equal rights for all of their people and tribes. One major successful idea that was crucial in the fight for civil rights was the creation of AIM. The unification, perseverance, and determination the creation of this program brought was monumental, in that it was able to bring hundreds of willing able bodied men and women together to compare and contrast ideas on how best to go about carrying out effective protests and demonstrations for Native American civil rights. Just having a stable foundation such as AIM gave many American Indian tribes the motivation and hope they needed to continue their fight equality, and let there voices be heard. However these constant strives for equal rights  were at times met  with roadblocks which often lead to failures. Such as the Termination Policy which sole purpose was aimed to help the Native American community better fit into American society. This however in time took a drastic turn for the worse when it forced thousands of Native Americans off their reservations and  many more to assimilate into a society that was not financially or socially ready or willing to accept them as citizens of America. Another major setback the Natives faced was the siege at the reservation at Wounded Knee, South Dakota. Even though this major act of civil disobedience would prove to captivate the eyes of thousands all over the country in efforts to prove the power the American Indian Movement was capable of producing it would come with a cost. Hundreds of brothers and sisters would be arrested from tribes all over the country with dozens more being slain at the hand of the federal government such as the FBI in efforts to restore peace.
